The Auburn Community Players ask you: “Can you handle the pressures of the Bee?”
For its spring performance, ACP presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” at 7:30 p.m. May 31, June 1, 7, 8, 14, 15 and 2 p.m. June 9 at the Auburn Avenue Theater.
You may just find yourself a finalist amidst these tweens on your way to the National Bee. The production is rated PG-13.
Spelling Bee follows six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, as they learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
Will our lonely competitors find the love or friendships they are looking for? Can they overcome their overbearing or neglectful parents to do what’s best for themselves? And, in the end, who will be crowned Spelling Bee Champion?
The Auburn Community Players is composed of local, volunteer actors from the community. They produce two musicals a year, rehearsing and building sets and costumes in their spare time.
