AUBURN RIVERSIDE RAVENS
• Coach: Christine Leverenz, 18th year
• Last year: first in SPSL North 4A with 11-0 record, 19-5 overall. Seventh-place finish at the state 4A tournament.
• Top returners: Carson Heilborn, junior, setter, 6-0; Lexi White, senior, setter, 5-8; Katherine Hood, senior, outside hitter, 5-8; Sydney LaValley, senior, outside hitter, 5-8; Precious Atafua, junior, outside hitter, 5-10; Austyn Lawrenson, senior, middle hitter, 5-11; and Kaysey Holland, sophomore, middle hitter, 5-10;.
• Impact newcomers: Kiana Drumheller, sophomore, outside and middle hitter; and Roxy King, junior, outside hitter.
• Outlook: Last year’s SPSL North 4A co-MVP Brenna Bruil is gone, but much of the team’s roster returns with more state tournament experience under its belt. The Ravens’ one-two setter punch of Heilborn and White leads the team as co-captains. LaValley, another co-captain, also returns at outside hitter. Atafua, who is coming off a great club season, also is back to key the team’s offense. With a roster full of talented club players, Auburn Riverside looks to be the team to beat in the SPSL North. The Ravens play at fifth-ranked Emerald Ridge in nonleague action at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 13 and begin league play at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 1 at Mount Rainier.
