Season tickets are on sale now for the Auburn Symphony Orchestra’s 2009-10 concert series.
The prestigious ASO – under the direction of Stewart Kershaw, internationally renowned conductor and music director of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra – will embark on its 13th season with four programs, featuring the region’s finest soloists.
Jerry Oram, Pacific Northwest Ballet’s and ASO’s principal trumpet, will perform in October. Oram, the principal trumpet since the orchestra was founded in 1997, will appear as the soloist in a boisterous concerto by Armenian composer Alexander Arutiunian.
In December, ASO will highlight Handel’s Messiah with the same stellar cast of vocal soloists Megan Chenovick, Melissa Plagemann, Erich Parce and the Tudor Choir. The program will include an audience sing-along of favorite holiday songs.
In February, ASO will perform the works of Cesar Franck, a widely admired French composer. Piano soloist Allan Dameron will be making his fourth appearance with the orchestra.
Mezzo soprano Kyra Humphrey and the Federal Way Chorale will join the orchestra in Prokoviev’s Alexander Nevsky Cantata in April. The cantata will include the Battle on the Ice scene made famous in Eisenstein’s film masterpiece.
