Keyed by senior Kat Cooper, the Riverside girls basketball team eked out a 55-48, come from behind win against Mount Rainier in South Puget Sound League North 4A action on Friday.
Trailing 38-35 after three quarters, the Ravens posted 22 fourth quarter points, outscoring the Rams by 12 points in the frame.
Cooper, a 6-foot wing who will play ball for Boston College next season, led the Ravens (9-1 league, 11-3 overall) with 25 points in the contest. Senior Brooklyn Hinkens added 10 points for Riverside.
The Rams were led by Brittany McPhee’s 21 points.
The Ravens, currently in second-place in the SPSL North 4A will host Kent-Meridian (0-11, 1-14) at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
ALSO: The Auburn (4-7, 4-10) girls squeaked by Kentlake (3-7, 4-10) on Friday, defeating the Falcons 45-44 at Auburn High School. Down 26-23 at the half, the Trojan girls held Kentlake to just three points in the third quarter and held on for the victory. Isia Johnson led the team with a game-high 15 points with Erin Fischer adding 12 points. The Trojans will travel to Jefferson (5-6, 6-8) tomorrow for a 7:30 p.m. SPSL North 4A contest… The Auburn Mountainview (5-1 SPSL 3A, 12-4 overall) girls had three players in double figure scoring in their 52-33 win over league rival Bonney Lake (4-3, 6-9) on Friday. Hattie Kosko led the team with 15 points, with Caitlin Carr adding 13 and Aalia Braboy chipping in with 10. The Lions will host Lakes (5-1, 11-4) in a contest to decide first-place in the SPSL 3A at 7 p.m. tomorrow.
