The Auburn Mountainview gymnastics squad bettered their second-place team finish from last season at this year’s Washington State 3A Gymnastics Championship Meet with a first-place 169 team finish.
The all-around finishes of senior Lexi Morton and junior Natalie Hostetter who finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the competition spurred on the team.
Morton compiled a 36.450 all-around finish with Hostetter adding a 35.500 point total.
Morton was second on the floor with a 9.475 finish and also finished fourth on the vault with a 9.475. Morton also tied for fifth-place on the beam with a 9.300 performance.
Hostetter tied for sixth place on the floor with a 9.400 point total and tied for ninth with a 9.200 on the vault.
Sara Fiksdal finished tied for 25th all-around with a 33.025.
Also competing for the Lions, who finished first on the vault and the floor and second on the bars and beam, were Katie Hayward, Jecinda Goodman, Sydney Coleman, Michelle Tanco, Cassie Hunt, Lauren Kmiechick, Kenzie Treece, Alex Gondry and Kristina Garimchuck.
In Saturday’s individual events competition Morton and Hostetter also distinguished themselves with placings in all four events. Morton was third on the floor with a 9.625, sixth on the vault with a 9.300, 14th on the bars with an 8.175 and 16th on the beam with a 7.975.
Hostetter was fifth on the vault with a 9,325, tied for 11th with a 9.375 on the floor and 14th on the bars with a 8,175.
The Lions just edged out Columbia River who had 167.1 team points.
