Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between April 12 and April 14:
April 12
Disorderly conduct: 9:56 a.m., 500 Auburn Way S. Police busted a man for overly-enthusiastic begging at an off-ramp to Highway 18.
Animal problem: 11:52 a.m., 700 block of 6th Street Southeast. Auburn’s animal control officer returned a wandering dog to its owner and issued tickets to said owner.
Theft: 4:30 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. An unknown person stole two decorative mirrors of undisclosed value from a wall in an unidentified business.
Shoplifting: 6:43 p.m., 1509 Auburn Way S. Police took the unprecedented step not only of booting two boys from the store where they had shoplifted liquor but also of forbidding them to show any parts of their persons again on an entire city block.
Traffic collision: 7:32 p.m., 1400 West Valley Highway S. A male person crashed his car then escaped in another vehicle, taking his license plate with him.
Theft: 8:24 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. An undisclosed Auburn business reported the theft of seven purses worth a total of $2,356.
It’s not a toilet, man: 10:50 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. Emptying his bladder in a public elevator at the Muckleshoot Casino got a man busted for 3rd-degree malicious mischief.
Purse theft: 11:24 p.m., 500 block of 25th Street Southeast. A woman reported that an unknown male, for whom she had provided a ride, stole her purse once she got him where he had told her he needed to get to.
April 13
ID theft: 1:12 p.m., 210 37th St. SE. A fictional tax preparation service calling itself University National Bank siphoned money out a man’s refund for “tax preparer fees.”
Shoplifting: 1:49 p.m., 1072 Auburn Way N. Two customers suspected of taking store merchandise and attempting to exchange the products for a refund at AutoZone fled the scene in a black Kia SUV.
Animal problem: 9:39 p.m., 12600 block of Southeast 301st Place. The Auburn Valley Humane Society impounded a stray German shepherd, slightly overweight and in need of grooming but otherwise healthy and perky, that a man had found wandering in his neighborhood.
April 14
Animal problem: 12:25 a.m., 5000 Mill Pond Drive SE. A patrol vehicle struck a dog, and its owner took it to a veterinarian.
Animal problem: 12:54 am., 2402 Auburn Way S. Somebody found a live ferret in the Muckleshoot Casino’s parking garage. The beast ended up at the animal shelter.
