Deferring state requirements to meet growth, shorelines and stormwater management mandates would save cities and counties untold amounts of money, legislators learned Thursday at a hearing before the Senate Government Operatons, Tribal Relations and Elections Committee.
OLYMPIA – Gov. Christine Gregoire, citing the state’s fiscal crisis, targeted employee pension and health care costs for major spending cuts as she outlined for legislators Tuesday in her State-of-the-State address the difficult budget they must balance during the legislative session this year.
