Auburn-based Sockeye Homes is making a splash, winning two more national awards.
Sockeye Homes was a winner in the National Master Design Award for a bathroom remodel in the $30,000-$50,000 category, and received the coveted Janus Award, reserved only for companies winning the National Master Design Award and National Chrysalis Award in the same year.
The company won nine awards this year.
Sockeye Homes’ award-winning projects also were featured in Seattle Homes & Lifestyles.
Tod Sakai and his wife, Kristin, established the first-generation family-owned company three years ago after working in management positions for large companies. Tod, an award-winning businessman and builder, decided to use his expertise to launch a smaller company headquartered in Auburn.
“We’re small enough to be agile but large enough to handle anything big,” said Tod Sakai, company owner and president. “With our in-house carpenters and superintendents, we keep our quality where we want it to be and where it needs to be.”
Sockeye Homes recently completed a 3,300-square-foot custom-built home for a family of four. The one-story home, located east of Auburn, features a spacious kitchen, roomy masters suite, wooden flooring, wide hallways and entries and plenty of large windows to allow natural lighting. Energy-efficient appliances grace the home. Radiant flooring heats the master bathroom, which includes a large walk-in shower and corner jet tub.
The value of the home and the 5.25-acre property it stands on is approximately $750,000.
The home was one of 22 projects for Sockeye Homes this year.
“What’s beautiful about the custom home is it takes on the personality of the people who live in it,” Kristin Sakai said.
In addition, the company also launched its website – www.sockeyehomes.com – featuring: an interactive before/after photo gallery; customer video testimonials; a “green meets the greenback” blog showcasing current built-green projects; best price guarantee; and a YouTube debut of the Sockeye Homes team in action.
