Sleep Train is now Mattress Firm.
Company officials announced Wednesday that Sleep Train will join the Mattress Firm brand, renaming all 318 stores nationwide.
Sleep Train joins Mattress Firm’s 3,500 company-operated and franchised stores throughout the country, providing consumers with a broad selection of traditional and specialty mattresses, bedding accessories and related products from leading manufacturers like Serta, Simmons and Hampton Rhodes.
Mattress Firm acquired Sleep Train in 2014 for a reported $425 million.
In July 2015, Kent-based Sleep Country USA began rebranding all of its stores with the Sleep Train name, the California-based company now owned by Mattress Firm.
Sleep Train’s award-winning Foster Kids program will be united with the Mattress Firm Foster Kids program, adding nearly 100 nonprofit foster care organization partners to help more than 400,000 foster children nationwide. Consumers will benefit from Mattress Firm’s simplified shopping experience, Comfort by Color, which divides the store into three color-coded (blue, yellow and green) categories of comfort to denote soft, medium and firm. The retail stores will also offer a significantly larger value zone with more than 15 beds priced at under $799.

The company has begun renaming its stores to Mattress Firm with completion of all stores this spring. The stores will maintain all guarantees and warranties for past and future purchases. The Mattress Firm Foster Kids program, including the annual Pajama Bowl event, will maintain its relationships with local nonprofit organizations that aid foster children and host its annual collections for essential material items – now under the Mattress Firm banner.
Sleep Train was founded by entrepreneur Dale Carlsen in 1985. Today, Carlsen is CEO of the Ticket to Dream foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hope and opportunity to foster children nationwide. A partner and beneficiary of the Mattress Firm Foster Kids program, both organizations seek to raise awareness and much-needed support for foster youth.
