The situation in the City of Pacific is a true lesson to us all. Many of the city’s residents moved there for a small town, less government structure. They are now learning they really do need some structure and that it must be competent.
Mayor Cy Sun was voted in as a joke, protest, or spite – not consideration of competency. Now Pacific residents are reaping the consequences of their refusal to actually do their part in maintaining their desired government. It has become apparent that they have taken for granted what they had without intention of accepting the necessary responsibility of also working as a community in maintaining their functioning government. It is a lesson to us all.
Pacific is in true, serious danger of losing its city-hood. A previous letter writer asked why won’t they just let Sun do his job. Well, he is. He is actively dismantling the city so that it will cease to exist.
Was that what the voters actually wanted when they voted for him? I wonder if either the cities of Auburn or Sumner supported his campaign because one of them will be the first to benefit from his actions. One of them will annex Pacific if they get the slightest chance.
Pacific people, get your act together, choose what you really want, and do what is necessary to get it. Or, get ready to change your address.
