I find the drawings of the tsunamis by Mr. Shiers (Auburn Reporter, March 18) to be extremely misguided and embarrassing. To compare the horrific natural disaster that devastated much of eastern Japan to the incompetence of many of our elected state officials is incredulous. To compare how our state may suffer to the death and destruction in Japan is unconscionable.

Mr. Shiers has had a habit of creating “questionable” depictions in the past. I question what the editors of the Auburn and Kent papers were thinking when they “approved” the publication.

The Auburn Reporter should be embarrassed at such an insensitive “creation.” The Auburn Reporter lacks in many areas, so perhaps it’s time for Sound Publishing to move in another direction.

My heart goes out to the people of Japan. Thank You.
