Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) has reached an agreement for the sale of the Auburn Regional Medical Center and related assets to MultiCare Health System, a regional nonprofit integrated health system with headquarters in Tacoma.
The sale is subject to regulatory review, which is expected by late summer, with the transaction completed shortly thereafter.
The transaction reflects the recognition of the changing healthcare landscape in the greater Puget Sound area. The sale of the Auburn Regional Medical Center facility will advance the medical center’s ability and commitment to serve the community with high quality health care.
I believe this is a very positive step. MultiCare has a long history of serving the residents of South King County through the management of its clinic network, in addition to operating four South Sound area hospitals.
At Auburn Regional, we work every day to fulfill our mission and live up to our values for the patients we serve. We view this change as an investment in our community and in the work that we do here, and I anticipate you will agree.
Throughout the process, we sought to identify a buyer that would not only help advance our mission of providing compassionate, quality care, but also strengthen the medical center’s ability to serve the community, and to ensure that consumers and physicians in the region have a choice in medical centers.
As we move forward, we will keep you informed. It is an honor and a pleasure to serve the greater Auburn community, and I thank you for your continued trust in Auburn Regional Medical Center.
