Auburn should rethink event at Mountain View Cemetery

In regard to the upcoming event “Dead” (at the White River Valley Museum) and the plan to have a “Lantern-Light Tour” at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn on Oct. 14, 2011.

This has got to be the stupidest, dumbest thing I have seen planned in Auburn in my 64 years of living here, not counting closing Auburn High School for snow, when there was no snow. I’m sure that I’m not alone in saying this event should not be held at the cemetery. The good people of Auburn own property and have loved ones buried at the cemetery, and the head of Mountain View Cemetery should reconsider his thinking on this very hurtful, disrespectful event. Auburn has many other parks, empty houses and bare land that would be a better place to have their “not for the faint of heart fun night.” Not on sacred grounds where our loved ones rest in peace. I would highly suggest that Louise Hull from GRCC, Mountain View Cemetery and the City of Auburn think about what they are doing before proceeding with such an offensive way to offend and upset the people of Auburn. I, for one, do not want a bunch of people stomping around the resting place of my loved ones buried at Mountain View Cemetery.
