My husband and I have lived in Auburn for 15 years now. We’ve raised both of our children here. And I’m voting for Nancy Backus for a second time.

Nancy’s daughter and our oldest have been in the same schools, sometimes the same class, from kindergarten through graduation. Through that interaction, I got to know Nancy. She’s tough, but fair. Caring, compassionate, but wants to get things done. She’s approachable, willing to listen and really knows how to compromise when she needs to.

Government, at any level, moves slowly. It’s hard to make lasting change happen in months or years. Yes, Auburn has problems. Every city does. But steady leadership is what gets things done. You cannot look at a one term mayor and say, “They didn’t do enough.” It takes time to change laws, create opportunities and grow a city.

Nancy Backus has the tenacity to get the job done. She doesn’t sit in an office and make paper airplanes all day. She works hard to try and make life for everyone in Auburn better. And I believe she is the right person to keep at that job for another four years.
