Bill takes away freedoms

We are looking at the first step in the demise of the Bill of Rights, and I am frightened because the majority of Americans don't seem to care and those who do are sitting quietly watching it happen.

Before leaving for their Christmas break, Congress passed and Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which is really the defense spending bill. A part of that bill destroys the 5th and 6th amendments of the Bill of Rights. The 5th amendment guarantees that no person may be held without due process of law and gives the right to appear before a grand jury. The 6th amendment guarantees the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury.

The NDAA authorized the holding of a United States citizen indefinitely without either of those protections. All that needs to be done is for someone to decide they MIGHT be involved in terrorism. No proof need be supplied. There is no outside review.

Our government starts wars claiming to protect our freedom. Now it takes them away. It is a slippery slope we are on. Please speak out.
