City needs to address its homeless problem

I have lived my 54 years here in our town of Auburn, and if you have been here that long, you have seen a lot of changes, too.

I have lived my 54 years here in our town of Auburn, and if you have been here that long, you have seen a lot of changes, too.

Our small town has lost its beauty and, as we all know, our small-town shops. That said, I no longer have tolerance for our homeless population.

I live in the southeast area and take pride in where we had our roots. Our parks are loaded with this problem, and I thought in the beginning that things would be taken care of. It has only escalated in the past four years, and now when you walk down the street and see a man passed out on the sidewalk in plain view for three hours, it’s unacceptable.

I have personally called for a welfare check on people in the park, only in hopes that they are OK. Now, I feel it’s time for our City to really crack down on this problem.

Our children in this city do not need to be exposed to this, especially in our city parks. They are supposed to be a fun and safe place for us all.
