With no regard for the residents, small business owners, customers and employees of businesses in downtown Auburn, I was told by one of the officers that a directive to the parking patrol was issued from the “top” to patrol the Safeway parking lot on Wednesday (Jan. 22).
Chase bank was recently issued 16 parking spots, leaving little for the Auburn residents who frequent the numerous businesses downtown. Of the 16 spots that Chase Bank has, 14 were empty as well as eight surrounding its building.
Employees and customers, including senior citizens, were frantically moving their cars to different spots to avoid getting a ticket.
If this is the only solution that our elected officials can come up with, I need to remind them that they work for the residents of the city of Auburn.
