Finding help, maintaining hope

I have lived in Auburn for 25 years. I was laid off from work last year. Actually, it will be two years in February.

I am one of those people who really does look for work. Employers can be really picky at what they want because there are so many people out there.

I have two step kids and my boyfreind. Work is by contract and short term when we find it.

I used to volunteer at the food bank. There are tons of people who come in. I started to come more regularly as a person in need. They always help me.

I don’t know what I would do without them. It’s been very helpfull. I try to give back, but haven’t been able to volunteer because of an injury.

We had a small toy store, but it closed. And I have been donating toys to the food bank for its Dec. 18 toy giveaway. I say this in hopes that other people who have been helped might do the same.

I continue to go to the food bank. And it is hard at times. I feel so broke and beat down, but I have hope things will get better.
