A friend and I recently attended the “Nutcracker”, performed by the Evergreen City Ballet at the Auburn Performing Arts Center. It was a wonderful show with some very talented young artists. We had a marvelous time and it was nice to find such quality entertainment right here in town.
What was disappointing though, was that we found it almost impossible to find any information about the performance. It was not advertised on the City’s website, through the parks department, nor in any of the flyers that Auburn mails to everyone in town.
It almost seems that the Evergreen City Ballet production was purposely left out of any of the City’s holiday events. How can this be? Surely, given the current state of our downtown area, the city officials would want to do everything possible to promote fine entertainment right here in Auburn.
The ballet has been performing here for years, bringing people and revenue to the city. We’re just wondering if this was an unfortunate omission by the City of Auburn, or perhaps the City has some personal reasons for not including this Christmas tradition in its public announcements.
