‘Frosty’ paid the price, let him serve

In response to Kevin Cline's letter ("Councilmember Gary Hulsey should resign", Auburn Reporter, March 9), I believe that before any of us judge another person, we need to sweep our own doorstep.

In response to Kevin Cline’s letter (“Councilmember Gary Hulsey should resign”, Auburn Reporter, March 9), I believe that before any of us judge another person, we need to sweep our own doorstep.

The caring and generous man we know as “Frosty” made sure all his ducks were in a row before he stepped up to fill his current City Council seat. And, as Frosty so eloquently put it in his open letter in the guest editorial of the March 16 Auburn Reporter, he is not proud of what occurred 35 years ago. But he served his time, did his penance, and has become a remarkable and exemplary citizen, volunteer, neighbor and councimember.

Mr. Cline is now taking it upon himself to be a judge and jury, to be so self-righteous that he feels a need to take things into his own hands and decide whether Frosty should be forgiven, should be allowed to serve on the City council and whether he served enough of the 20 years he was given.

We are all human beings and none of us are free from mistakes. Frosty has humbled himself, proven himself as a good neighbor and citizen, and he is willing and interested in continuing to serve the citizens of Pacific as a member of the City Council.

He not only deserves to be left alone to do this, but it is our duty to allow him to serve as long as he wants to and as long as the citizens vote him into this position.

So, Mr. Cline, I suggest you walk the walk, talk the talk, forget about a recall petition, and save your energy to learn about City politics and policies so that if you decide to run again for a seat on the council, you will know what the job is. You will be able to answer questions intelligently and responsibly for the citizens of Pacific. Your failure to know about the operations of the City probably contributed to your not being elected in November.
