I was driving home in the dark on a rainy night on Highway 164 from Enumclaw to Auburn last December. The centerline on the two-lane road was hard to follow with the glaring car lights coming toward you. The road was unsafe as there were no distinguishable centerline or road reflectors guiding you on the road.
A few days later, I attended a legislative reception at the Muckleshoot Casino and saw Sen. Pam Roach. I brought up the Highway 164 unsafe nighttime road conditions. She also was concerned. I sent her an email outlining the problem.
A few days later, I received a call from the Washington Department of Transportation with a plan to fix the highway public safety issue, weather permitting.
On March 26, I was driving on Highway 164 to Enumclaw from Auburn, and the road striping, new yellow centerlines and reflectors had been added to the road. This addition will make Highway 164 a safer road for people to travel.
Thank you, Sen. Roach and WSDOT for the expedited response and safety fix.
