I would like to endorse John Holman’s candidacy for the Auburn City Council.
I’ve known John for nearly 40 years, attended Central Washington University and the police academy with him, and we worked together throughout our careers.
He was a dedicated professional police and administrator, rising to the rank of captain after having attended the FBI academy and several other executive level management courses.
After retiring from the Port of Seattle Police Department, John volunteered for and served a year in Iraq, mentoring the chief of the 38,000-member Baghdad Police Department.
As a mark of John’s character, while serving there, he drove the 11-mile BIAP (Baghdad International Airpot) Highway daily, which at the time, was considered to be the most dangerous stretch of road in the world, with insurgents constantly attacking American vehicles. He felt his goals of building a competent, well-trained police department was worth the risk.
John is a lifelong resident of Auburn, graduated from Auburn High School, and along with his wife, Arlista, has dedicated himself to this community.
I would recommend him for the Auburn City Council, without reservation.
