I agree with the letter “Let’s clean up, Auburn” (Auburn Reporter, Aug. 30). Let’s identify the problems and take action.
For instance, the people who have allowed their yards to become solid blankets of dandelions and/or clover. Not only are these ugly, but the property owners’ lack of integrity allows the millions of weed seeds to blow around the neighborhoods, causing untold work, cost and stress for those of us who are conscientious about being good neighbors. Older people, or those with physical limitations, are not able to constantly deal with your weeds.
Also, the Mexican mercados leave a lot to desire. Windows covered with dozens of unattractive flyers and papers … trash and piles of pallets.
We sit down and cry over the “slum” that Auburn has become.
City Hall, let’s encourage personal integrity and also fine those stores and property owners who fail to get rid of their weeds and trash.
