I just feel that I have to make a few comments and suggestions to our future mayor.
I recently visited friends and family in a neighboring state and was truly impressed with the cleanliness of its towns and friendliness of its people.
When I returned I had to make a grocery run and also had something to do in downtown Auburn. What a difference. I thought to myself, what a “pigsty” Auburn has become. The filth in the parking lots of our grocery stores and on the sidewalks downtown is appalling.
Auburn needs to form a committee or have a campaign to have merchants once again take some pride in their businesses. Not just a once a year “Clean Sweep” campaign. That’s just a Band-Aid effect that is a joke.
If we want to draw more business downtown, we have to show a little pride in our city. I certainly am not proud to say I live in Auburn. So, future mayor, do something to restore that pride, not just in me but in everyone. Recall what I said in my last letter, the new mayor, whether it be Nancy or John, has got to listen to what the people want.
