I read with amusement Major Pete Lewis’ comments in “Delayed Stimulus? City projects to get little federal help” (Auburn Reporter, Feb. 27). He sounded like a child in the checkout line at the local grocer whining because he cannot get some of the candy purposely positioned in close proximity to the cashier.

Boo hoo, because I cannot balance a budget, spend wisely, control the city’s purse strings, I should get bailout funds at the taxpayers’ expense.

Us taxpayers do not get any of the money either, Pete. Oh yeah, we are the ones paying.
