In reading the article (“Certain powers at work: Woman explores her gift by foretelling fortunes of others,” Auburn Reporter, Sept. 18) about Tanya Miller’s psychic powers, she states her powers are from God.
I have to give you what the Catholic church teaches on the subject of fortune-telling:
“All forms of divination are to be rejected: consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens. … The phenomenon of clairvoyance and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
