Wayne Osborne is an excellent choice for Auburn City Council Position 7 because of those things that he is and those things that he is not.

Wayne Osborne is not another tired old man that thinks he knows everything and should be elected to tell you how it should be. The hair that Wayne has is white and from this you would properly assume that the fire department does not allow lighting of the proper number of candles on his birthday cake, but that would be the only fact that you could assume.

Wayne is young at heart while being blessed with the knowledge that experience brings. He is healthy and active in his life, engaging in sports that require quickness of mind and sustained attention to detail.

While Wayne does have opinions born of deliberate consideration of issues, he is willing and able to listen to the opinions of others.

But more than these personal qualities, Wayne Osborne brings to the Auburn City Council those things that most often lead us to vote for incumbents. We vote for incumbents because they have done the job and have already learned how to work with the other elected officials. We vote for incumbents because they do not have to learn the proper paths to take in getting accomplished those things that we as citizens want our elected officials to accomplish. Those are pretty good reasons for voting for someone if we want efficient government.

Wayne Osborne has served the Auburn community by attending hundreds of City Council meetings and becoming known by the City Council members we have elected. He has gained their respect and endorsement.

Wayne Osborne has served the Auburn community by putting his unpaid time into representing our interests on the planning commission and the airport advisory board. He knows your other elected officials, he knows the staff serving in City government, and he knows how to get things done within the system that is Auburn City government. Wayne Osborne knows these things without being a “yes man” to long-term local politicos. And isn’t that what you want in a new city council member … someone who knows how to get things done yet who has an independent, reasonable mind?

I am going to vote for Wayne Osborne because of all the things that he is as well as because of all the things he is not. I am going to vote for Wayne Osborne because he is organized, open-minded, optimistic and outgoing and because he is not out-dated, ornery, obstinate and overbearing. I am voting for Wayne Osborne because he has done all the things we want a City Council member to do and he wants to continue to serve our community. Isn’t that what we all want?

I ask my fellow Auburn residents to join me by giving their votes to Wayne Osborne for Auburn City Council, Position 7. I ask this as a family man, a business owner and a person that has been a City Council member in another community.
