I have been a teacher and administrator in Auburn for 32 years, and for 30 of them I have proudly worked at Auburn High School. Having seen every part of the school from the inside out for the past three decades, I am writing as a citizen to encourage you to vote yes by Nov. 6 in support of the Auburn High School Modernization and Reconstruction Bond.
I would guess in the last 30 years I have spent as much time in this building as anyone, and I know it is time we get this project done.
It is not an exaggeration to say the building has exceeded its life span. Failing infrastructure impacts students at all Auburn schools when a quarter-million dollars annually must be pumped into the current building to offset excess maintenance and operation work.
My time at the school has been long enough to see many changes and thousands of students come through the hallways of our building. Staff and students have made Auburn proud for generations. I know the community has the care, compassion and dedication to make the next generation of Auburn High School students proud.
