Congratulations to the City for having Auburn Way North and South re-striped. Only problem is that whoever they had do it didn’t think it through very well.
The article, “City to examine future of municipal airport” (Auburn Reporter, Aug. 17), reminds me of a spoiled little boy crying that since the rest of the kids won’t play by his rules, he wants to take his ball and go home.
Were it not free and winding up (for the most part) on my sidewalk – though it has wound up in the bushes and once actually on the roof – I’d cancel my subscription to the Reporter.
We noted that “Auburn Good Ol’ Days” is no longer called “Good Ol’,” just plain “Auburn Days.”
Dr. Linda Petter rails against Obamacare and demands that we repeal it and replace it with – what?
I feel I have to respond to Dr. Petter’s editorial in the Aug. 17 issue of the Auburn Reporter.
It is very sad that the Auburn School District has disappointed some very special kids when it comes to enjoying their very first day of school as kindergarteners.
Jay Inslee, the Democrat candidate for governor, claims he has a book on green energy that Bill Clinton thinks is wonderful in his TV and radio commercials. Now Clinton might think Jay’s book is wonderful, but is that a reason to vote for Inslee?
It doesn’t make any sense. Various cities are outright banning medical marijuana access points from operating within their boundaries for the sake of public safety and/or concern for the exposure of children to marijuana.
The situation in the City of Pacific is a true lesson to us all. Many of the city’s residents moved there for a small town, less government structure. They are now learning they really do need some structure and that it must be competent.
I returned from a period of living overseas to live in our new home in Mill Pond last summer. An attraction to living there has been Roegner Park and and the White River, and making use of the beautiful trails and park facilities.
I can’t understand why she is blaming the mayor of Auburn for the death of her beloved pet (“Auburn’s forgotten thoroughfare”, letter to the editor, Reporter, Aug. 3), when the blame should fall directly on her and her boyfriend’s shoulders.
The inappropriate and condescending actions of Auburn Post Office staff have provided new customers for private package and letter delivery. By denying handicapped and aged patrons mail delivery, they have shown callous disregard for their own patrons and for their own regulations.
In response to “Public assistance program broken” (letter to the editor, July 20, Auburn Reporter):
I will be voting no on Prop 1 and all other requests for money from the City of Auburn, Valley Regional Fire Authority, King County Library System, Auburn School District, etc.
In response to the Auburn Reporter letter to the editor (July 27) regarding the Valley Regional Fire Authority’s Proposition 1, there seems to be some confusion regarding the issues.
We have a great city here. Tons of parks, beautiful downtown, all kinds of human services with DSHS and WorkSource, Valley Cities and Sound Mental Health offices in north Auburn, and lots of Section 8 housing.
“I can’t fix stupid.” That is the statement made to me by Mayor Lewis that sticks mostly in my mind during a meeting with several of my neighbors and the mayor a few years ago regarding the traffic speeding through our neighborhood on K Street Southeast.
In response to Robert Whale’s story, “Messy medians steam city” (July 27, Auburn Reporter):
I’m disgusted with the high cost of cable TV. I recently purchased a new HD TV, but that’s not where it ends.
