Two years ago a story titled “Persevering on Main Street” appeared on the front page of this newspaper.
When the City took upon itself to place the giant sandbags that supposedly were necessary due to the unsubstantiated fear of the dam being compromised, we went along with the news and the mass hysteria they created and allowed the sandbags to be placed on property by our home.
The Auburn Downtown Association would like to thank those partners who provided excellent food and beverages for its third annual open house meet and greet at our office, 222 E. Main St., Suite A:
I would like to thank the firefighters for always doing such a great job helping us citizens. People don’t understand what they do for us. They put their families aside and risk their lives to protect us.
Far too many individuals complain about politics, yet don’t even bother to vote.
I wanted to thank you all for supporting us in providing the Heart Health Screenings for our community. We were able to screen 60 individuals, many of whom are uninsured and underinsured, including several staff members.
Thank you, Becky Prenovost, for your letter about inconsiderate dog owners who do not pick up after their pets.
So a city councilman with no honor questions the honor of a man with plenty of honor, Mayor Cy Sun?
The Washington State Patrol would like to thank all the wonderful people of Washington who showed their compassion and care following the tragic death of Trooper Tony Radulescu.
Robert Whale’s article (“City’s red-light photo enforcement running in the red – and working,” Auburn Reporter, Feb. 17) made me want to speak up.
I’m writing about the inconsiderate owners who walk their dogs at Game Farm Park and fail to pick up their dog’s poop.
I am a member of Auburn’s VFW Post 1741, and I read with great interest your story (“‘I am not a liar’: Pacific mayor defends, proves service record”, Auburn Reporter, Feb. 24). It’s a compelling story. And I really think Mayor Cy Sun’s eloquently delivered speech “shamed” those people who questioned the war medals he earned for his service as a soldier during the Korean War.
As a longtime citizen and voter of this town and someone who has twice ran for City Council in Pacific, I’m appalled and amazed at the level of disrespect shown to our mayor, Cy Sun.
Your Feb. 17 “political” cartoon was patently offensive to any person with deeply-held religious objections to the same-sex marriage bill.
It has been my great honor to serve the City of Pacific as community services director for these past two years.
I am proud of the support our district provides to encourage all students in reaching their academic potential. As a member of the Auburn community, I understand how critical the two issues on the February special election ballot are to maintaining and enhancing student achievement.
Allow me to respond to letters regarding my storm-related letter.
We are looking at the first step in the demise of the Bill of Rights, and I am frightened because the majority of Americans don’t seem to care and those who do are sitting quietly watching it happen.
I have lived and worked within the Auburn School District for more than 40 years. I have watched the ASD manage our educational system for those 40 years.
Support the need to replace Auburn High School, where I taught social studies from 1962-90.
