Pet owners are to blame

I can’t understand why she is blaming the mayor of Auburn for the death of her beloved pet (“Auburn’s forgotten thoroughfare”, letter to the editor, Reporter, Aug. 3), when the blame should fall directly on her and her boyfriend’s shoulders.

The cat would still be alive if they would have acted as responsible owners and kept it in their yard and not let it run around to eventually end up in the street. Streets are for vehicles, not for beloved pets. So please take some responsibility for you own negligence.

On the other hand, I am terribly sorry that your pet was hit by a car and hopefully if you get another pet, you’ll do the right thing.
