I had the opportunity to observe the lunch program at Pioneer Elementary School. Because they have a large percentage of children of low-income families, the school was eligible for a grant to provide a well-balanced lunch for students.
They no longer sell snack foods as an alternative, and there is no chocolate milk.
Kindergarteners have been taught to eat healthy food.
Good job, Pioneer. The entire school district needs to follow Pioneer’s example.
Unhealthy, overweight people are not an asset to our country or to the city.
It’s about time the school district puts our tax dollars where our future is and not in the fancy buildings that house a lot of unhealthy children who might appreciate a little more physical activity and healthier food.
