Trump voters should like Reichert. While we are distracted by the illegal and hurtful Muslim travel ban, Reichert has been quietly voting Trump’s agenda into law. I researched a few recent bills that that Reichert voted on. Most were regulations that Trump wanted repealed.
Reichert voted to make it easier for corporations who violate labor laws on fair pay and safety to still get government contracts (HJ Res 37). Can Reichert claim to be on the side of workers?
He also voted to prevent Social Security from providing mental illness records for use in gun sale back-ground checks (HJ Res 40). Ironically, he says he can’t meet with his constituents because he might get shot by a mentally ill person! Was this vote for the NRA?
Then Reichert voted to overturn the part of the Dodd-Frank bill that was to prevent oil companies from bribing foreign politicians (HJ Res 41). That’s un-American.
Finally, he and 22 other Republicans on the Ways and Means Committee voted to keep Trump’s taxes secret. Fully 62 percent of Republicans want Trump to show his tax returns, and 74 percent of Americans. People who act like thy have something to hide – have something to hide. What’s in Trump’s tax returns Reichert doesn’t want Americans people to see?
Reichert’s constituents don’t want corporations corrupting foreign governments, or mentally ill folks buying guns, or workers cheated or injured. But they do want to see Trump’s taxes.
Does Reichert represent us or just corporations?
