As a veteran and a member of the Auburn VFW Post 1741 and the fact that our Post has an ongoing annual “Flags for Food Bank” community project, I stopped by Huttig Building Products on C Street Northwest a few weeks ago about them flying a worn and tattered American flag. Their flag is huge and expensive to replace.
I introduced myself to the lady at the front desk and mentioned that the flag needed to be replaced. She thanked me for the inquiry and would pass on the VFW concerns to management.
A week later, I was driving by and Huttig had replaced the American flag with a brand new red, white and blue huge flag. It was brilliant in one of our sunny spring days.
I stopped by a few days later and thanked Huttig for their “Support for our Troops.” If anyone sees a worn or tattered flag in or around the City of Auburn, please call VFW Post 1741 at 253-293-5839, and we’ll take action to have the flag replaced.
Thank you for supporting our troops.
