Campaign signs are a part of any election. However, campaign signs are not wanted after an election. We have all seen election signs here and there for an extended period of time post elections.
If any community wants to pass an ordinance dealing with this situation, I recommend the actions of mayoral candidate Cy Sun of Pacific as a benchmark. There were numerous Cy Sun campaign signs all over town before the election.
I was driving through Pacific at 7 the morning after the election and there was not one Cy Sun election sign in town. If a first-time candidate has proven this type of cleanup is possible, I would think it is something citizens of all communities could expect.
Regardless of whom you vote for, this display by Mr. Sun is an obvious display of caring for the community’s appearance. Candidates for every election at every level in the state should take note.
Kudos to Mr. Sun.
