I have served the Auburn community in a number of capacities and continue to do so in civic and service-oriented roles. I serve as chairperson on the City’s planning commission. I served on the Auburn City Council (1988-91) and was a two-term Washington state representative (1991-95). I worked as a business owner, became a Soroptimist member and a member of numerous local and regional boards and commissions in the many years I’ve lived in Auburn.
I believe strongly in service to Auburn and I am well aware of the qualities needed to be a successful civil servant.
Auburn has a mayoral candidate that embodies all of those traits to lead our city in the right direction and that is Nancy Backus. She has established herself as an effective leader in her role as deputy mayor and has used her 10 years on the City Council to become a regionally respected official.
She is a level headed, intelligent and thoughtful decision maker. I work with her often as the chair of Auburn’s Planning Commission. She is always prepared and well studied on the issues at hand when it comes to long-range planning issues facing Auburn. She clearly cares deeply about Auburn’s future and listens to all sides respectfully as we discuss and debate the issues before us.
I encourage Auburn voters to choose Nancy Backus as our next mayor in November.
