We hear so many horror stories in the news, I think many of us need to hear this.
My neighbor called and asked me to join her for a concert at the Auburn Avenue Theater on Saturday night.
I went but because it was snowing I decided to leave the show early. There was a man standing near the door as I left. As I neared the edge of the sidewalk to cross the street he came up beside me and offered his arm saying, “Please take hold, I don’t want to see you slip and fall into the street.”
He walked slowly and carefully to my car, where he helped me clear the snow from my car windows and then quietly walked away.
My initial thought was this kindness doesn’t happen much anymore. Yesterday I told my neighbor about it, and her reaction was exactly the same.
This is why I want to say a public thank you to him. I do not know who he is. This was simply a random act of kindness that we don’t see happen very often anymore, and I think we all need to hear and to encourage others to do these small acts for others.
