We haven’t heard this much lately, but Auburn is truly more that you imagined.
The community has an amazing resource in the Auburn Food Bank. Last Friday, several hundred people attended a very early breakfast to be enlightened about the successful services past, present and future that fall under the big umbrella of the food bank. Executive Director Debbie Christian was honored for the outstanding coordination of services meeting the needs of the most vulnerable citizens in Auburn. The future includes moving to a new, one-stop-shop for multiple services – a dream come true.
Today we participated in the Veterans Day Lunch at the Auburn Senior Center. Radine Lozier, her wonderful staff and Sharon VanBlaricom, nutrition manager for Catholic Community Service, provided a delicious lunch and a special program, honoring veterans from every branch of the service. The behind-the-scenes work and planning requires special acknowledgment. The room and tables decorated in red, white and blue welcomed more than 200 guests. Each veteran was recognized in special ways. Great job.
A big thank you to all these and the many volunteers who continue to make Auburn a great place to live.
