The very last item on the Nov. 3 absentee ballot is a proposition that’s crucial in the Auburn area. It’s an Auburn School District capital improvement levy.
Why is this capital levy so crucial? Because 19 of our schools and six of our support buildings need serious repairs and improvements to basic things like heating, ventilation and electrical systems; leaking and failing roofs; water quality; and safety and security systems.
In order for the district to make these kinds of repairs, voters have to approve the funding needed for them.
How much will this levy cost property owners? For someone who owns a $300,000 home, this levy would only cost them around $160 a year for the next six years. This amount is such a small investment when you consider all the repairs and improvements this capital levy will make. And, this truly is an investment, not only in our schools and kids, but in our community as well.
We hope voters will make sure they find the school proposition on their ballot and vote yes by Nov. 3.
