I live within eyesight of not only the 76 gas station on Main Street, but also the Auburn Police Station. My question is why on a daily basis do I look down the street and see 20 or more teens hanging out all over F Street Southeast, either on the parking lot of the 76 station or across F Street near the eye doctor sidewalk or the condos behind the 76 station?
I have physically watched a fight break out in the alley behind the store and watched a police officer drive right by, then do a loop around and up G Street and then off to the police station to park.
I have been in this town for 40 years and I am very disgusted with the response and care that I am seeing. If police can’t even see what is going on two blocks from the police station, I can’t imagine what the rest of the city is dealing with on the south or north ends of town. I am talking about Main Street, Washington Elementary School, Auburn High School, Auburn Police Station, the Auburn Courthouse, all in about a three-block radius of the station.
What is my biggest concern? I used to walk my 6-year-old to the mini mart to get snacks. I will no longer do that due to the problems in the neighborhood that are fully being ignored.
