I often shop and dine in downtown Auburn. But they way the parking is designed, it discourages my visits.
I enjoy the downtown and its people. They are trying to do the best they can. They have so much to compete against. They provide unique and “hometown” services and food. I enjoy that escape. I enjoy the small-town feel, rather than the bustle of the corporate mall.
However, parking has been cumbersome at times. And what’s with the idea behind permit parking? I once got a ticket for parking in a permit zone. How unfortunate on my part, but how frustrating and discouraging it must be for visitors, such as I, who just want to shop and eat downtown?
Permit me not to come back.
