It’s alive, and the Auburn Community Players want you to see it.

“Young Frankenstein the Musical” crashes the Auburn Avenue Theater on Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 6 and 13 at 2 p.m.

But as with all tirades of monster destruction, this shows run is limited.

Written by Mel Brooks, mastermind behind “The Producers”, “Blazing Saddles”, and “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”, “Young Frankenstein” picks up where the original Frankenstein story left off, but with a comical adaptation.

Frederick Frankenstein, Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson, learns that he has inherited his grandfather’s castle in Transylvania so travels there to investigate the property. Hilarity ensues as Frederick explores “the family business,” creating a monster himself that, just like the original, breaks free of the younger Frankenstein’s control.

With memorable tunes like “The Transylvania Mania”, “He Vas my Boyfriend”, and “Puttin’ On the Ritz”, Young Frankenstein is scientifically proven, monstrously good entertainment … and the only place you’ll witness a singing and dancing laboratory experiment in the largest tuxedo ever made.

The Auburn Community Players is composed of local, volunteer actors from the community. They produce two musicals a year, rehearsing and building sets and costumes in their spare time.
