The Auburn Mountainview Theatre Company presents “Time of My Life” – a vintage play by British master playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn – for six performances.
Show time is 7:30 p.m. on May 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 at the Auburn Mountainview Theatre, 28900 124th Ave. SE, Auburn.
In Ayckbourn’s contemporary comedy, the audience is the eavesdropper, witnessing the ordinary traumas of a normal Yorkshire family. The play also developed from Ayckbourn’s desire to experiment with time. This was not new territory from him or of any other playwright. Ayckbourn’s credits one of his inspirations as being J.B. Priestley and his plays which deal with time. What was original in Ayckbourn’s writing was in creating a play where the past, present and future are all revealed within the course of one evening.
As Ayckbourn said of the play in the Yorkshire Evening Press;
“I have this theory that we spend most of our lives looking forward to things or looking back. Essentially, it’s a family play about our perception of moments. The play explores the family’s lives, past, present and future. All of them are in search of personal happiness but, as is so often the case, they’re hard pressed to recognize it even when they find it. Each journey reflects the other journey, so that you learn more about each person.”
All tickets are $5 and available at the door.
