Auburn’s Avenue Kids to come alive with children’s fall matinees

Avenue Kids – Auburn’s Saturday matinee series – will feature an award-winning musical, a brand-new theater camp and a chance to learn about holidays around the world.

Avenue Kids – Auburn’s Saturday matinee series – will feature an award-winning musical, a brand-new theater camp and a chance to learn about holidays around the world.

The series, held at the historic Auburn Avenue Theater, 10 Auburn Ave. , is recommended for children in kindergarten to the fourth grade.

General admission tickets are $6. Subscriptions for the three fall performances are available at $15.

The lineup:

• Sept. 13, 2 p.m.: Francie Dillon, winner of the National Parent’s Choice Approval Award, is an enthusiastic and joyful entertainer, filling the theater with passion and gusto. Her contagious uplifting musical and storytelling style captures the hearts and minds of youngsters and parents, alike.

• Oct. 4, 2 p.m.: Parks, Arts & Recreation Youth Theater Camp, Schoolhouse Rock Live! A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage! Based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs. Originally Conceived and Directed by Scott Ferguson.

• Dec. 13, 2 p.m.:

Slightly Illusional’s Arctic Express is an imaginary train ride that takes kids all over the world to learn about winter holidays celebrated around the globe.
