The Children’s Dance Theater will present an “Alice in Wonderland” ballet performance at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at Auburn Avenue Theater, 10 Auburn Avenue.
“This is a great show for families with young children,” said Stephanie Cox, instructor and owner of CDT. “Our version is loosely based off of Lewis Carroll’s story, but told through dance and pantomime.”
The performance is the culmination of a three-week ballet camp where dancers attended multiple classes and rehearsals to prepare for the performance.
“Many of these dancers are first-time performers and have done such a wonderful job,” Cox said.
“Alice in Wonderland” tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures, such as the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat and the terrifying Queen of Hearts. The tale plays with logic in ways that have given the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children.
