David Crowe, an award-winning stand-up comedian, will headline Comedy at the Ave on Friday, April 23.

Show time is 7:30 p.m. at the iconic Auburn Avenue Theater, located at 10 Auburn Ave. Crowe will be joined by two other comedians on the program.

Crowe won the 1996 San Francisco and 1995 Seattle stand-up comedy competitions.

In 1996, Crowe was chosen to open for President Clinton when he spoke to supporters at the Paramount Theater in Seattle.

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Crowe spent his summers on a small boat exploring the many islands and inlets that clutter the coastline between Washington and Alaska. At 20, he spent the winter living with the Cofan, a native tribe of the upper Amazon, then went on to graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in English Literature.

After graduation, he travelled to 42 countries and learned to say “I love you” in six different languages.

An itinerant joke teller, he goes from town to town just making people laugh.

“David Crowe is incredibly talented,” said one review. “His show is remarkable on many levels. His insights, his timing, his physical expressions, his facial expressions, his effortless transitions from subject to subject, his ability to deliver hilarious comedy without crudity.”

Comedy at the Ave is not recommended for children under 18 years.
