Nikolas Caoile joins the Auburn Symphony Orchestra as its second music director candidate for Conductor’s Choice 2: Love, Passion, and Defiance.

The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 30 at the Performing Arts Center. 702 Fourth St. NE, Auburn.

Caoile is among the auditioning candidates to succeed Stewart Kershaw, the orchestra’s internationally-renowned conductor and founding music director who retired in 2015.

Caoile serves as music director and conductor of the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra and is the director of orchestras at Central Washington University. He will lead the orchestra in Mendelssohn’s Overture to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” written for the Shakespeare play of the same name, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. Rounding out the program is Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring award-winning pianist Daniel Lebhardt.

Tickets are $35 general, $28 seniors and $10 students. Reserved seats are available in advance online or by phone at 253-887-7777, and will also be available at the door. The box office opens 60 minutes prior to the concert and the house opens 30 minutes prior.
