Highline Community College will present the Breeders Theater production of “Prairie Heart” on Thursday at the E.B. Foote Winery, 127 S.W. 153rd St., Suite B in Burien.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; the show starts at 7.
The special performance, written by Highline professor Dr. T.M. Sell, benefits the HCC Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising funds that help provide quality education at Highline.
“Prairie Heart” is about Scandinavian pioneers in North Dakota in the 1890s.
“That’s about the time my great-grandparents homesteaded there,” Sell said. “The story is based on the kinds of stories their descendants used to talk about when I was a kid.
“But I think it’s an immigrant experience that a lot of people will be able to relate to.”
The show is directed by Alan Wilkie with music by Nancy Warren, choreography by Teresa Widner and costumes by Melissa Sell.
The cast features Adrienne Grieco, Luke Amundson, Eric Hartley, Melissa Grinley, J Howard Boyd, Steve Scheide and Melissa Malloy.
Tickets include tasting of E.B. Foote’s wines and hors d’oeurves.
Tickets at $20 are available at the winery and at Corky Cellars, 22511 Marine View Drive in Des Moines.
