Holiday Music, Motion and Magic packs three Ave Kids favorites into one show with two performances Saturday at the iconic theater.
The show features Rhys Thomas of Science Circus and Gollyollogy (coming Jan. 28), Steve Hamilton of Steve the Pretty Good, and one-man band Eric Haines.
A former junior high school teacher, Thomas decided he’d rather juggle knives. He couldn’t cut out teaching completely, however, so he created “The Science Circus” – an exploration of Newtonian physics through circus arts. Eventually, Gollyollogy was created as a natural sequel to include even more of Rhys’ scientific antics.
Hamilton has been performing his comedy magic show around the world for almost 20 years. Audiences from Shanghai, China to Valparaiso, Indiana have raved about his spontaneous humor and original routines. And occasionally he even does “Pretty Good.”
Haines, an entertainer and comedian, hales from Montana where he began his career with a $10 gig performing at a birthday party. Haines bills his act as “Comedy, juggling, music and variety for short attention spans,” and it’s all family friendly. Oh, and don’t forget the stilt walking, unicycle riding and one-man band.
Auburn Ave Kids showcases local, regional and national acts and touring presentations with an emphasis on audiences ages four through 12 and their parents. For a full listing of upcoming shows and to order tickets, please visit www.auburnwa.gov/arts.
