Mayhem Festival 2012 brings Slipknot and Slayer to White River Amphitheatre July 3

The stage is set for this summer’s edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, featuring Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax and a major special guest which will be announced on March 5.

The festival will swing into the White River Amphitheatre on July 3 and will also feature The Devil Wears Prada, A I Lay Dying and Asking Alexandria, Whitechapel, High On Fire and the Jagermeister opener.

Mayhem will kick off the 26 date trek across the U.S. on June 30 at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California. Ticket sales begin on April 6.

“You knew we’d be back,” Slipknot lead singer Cory Taylor said. “Now, you know we’re coming. This will be a tour people will scarcely want to miss. It will definitely be a show to remember. Can’t wait to see the states again from behind a mask.”

“Slipknot is headlining this summer’s Mayhem festival and it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve ever felt, sensed, or seen,” Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn Crahan (Clown) added. “You miss this, you miss everything. Everyone seems to think that there’s a chance we’re gonna go away. This is the farthest thing from the truth. Stay sic and don’t ever judge us.”

This year marks the second time Slipknot has headlined the festival, the first coming on the 2008 inaugural edition of the annual heavy metal festival.

Mayhem 2012 is also the second time metal legends Slayer have played the festivals mainstay. Slayer also played on the 2009 edition.

“Mayhem 2012 might just be the last and greatest metal festival before the world ends,” Tom Araya, bassist and vocalist for Slayer said. “So wreak havoc and go out in style.”
